In Vista, when you access theCustomize Notification Iconsscreen, it can become cluttered with Past Items that don’t exist anymore. You may want to keep this area clean and current, free of any icons that are related to programs you no longer even use. To reset these entries, follow these steps:
1. Open the Start orb and typeregedit. Press Enter.
2. Click Continue if given the UAC prompt.
3. Click the plus sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
then Software
then Classes
then Local Settings
then Software
then Microsoft
then Windows
then CurrentVersion
then click on the folder that says TrayNotify
5. On the right side, right-click IconStreams and select Delete. Also right clickPastIconsStream and select Delete.
6. Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer. The CustomizeNotification Icons screen should now be free of any older icons.
